Pastoral Lead – Birmingham 
Are you an experienced Pastoral Lead of Head of Year who is passionate about helping young people feel safe, supported, and ready to learn? This high-performing girls’ secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a Pastoral Lead to join their dedicated wellbeing team. The school has an excellent reputation, a strong sense of community, and a leadership team committed to giving every student the guidance and stability they need to thrive.

As Pastoral Lead, you will play a key role in supporting student welfare across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work closely with year teams, teachers, and the safeguarding team to ensure that every young person receives timely, effective support with behaviour, attendance, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build trust quickly, remain calm under pressure, and provide compassionate yet consistent pastoral guidance.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the behaviour, wellbeing, and attendance of students across the school
  • Working 1-2-1 with students who require additional emotional or behavioural support
  • Liaising with parents, carers, external agencies, and internal staff to ensure coordinated care
  • Helping implement pastoral interventions, behaviour plans, and attendance strategies
  • Supporting safeguarding processes and ensuring concerns are followed up correctly
  • Contributing to whole-school behaviour and wellbeing initiatives
  • Recording pastoral concerns accurately and maintaining organised case files
  • Promoting a positive, respectful, and nurturing atmosphere for all students
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience in a pastoral, behaviour, or safeguarding role within a school setting
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by young people in secondary education
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a busy pastoral team
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and personal development of students
