After a pretty promising 2016, 2017 is set to be an even better year for job seekers. As unemployment falls, the number of job vacancies rise. Jobs growth

Over the last 12 months the number of people in employment increased by a further 461,000. 75% of people are now in employment, with unemployment falling to an 11-year low. This development is set to continue into 2017 with firms of all sizes creating more permanent positions. So keep a look-out as the perfect job for you might be available very soon!  

 

Pay increase

An increase in pay is on the horizon - something many of you will be glad to hear after emptying your pockets over the festive period. Six in ten companies are working hard to up wages in line with inflation and one in five will offer a pay rise in the upcoming year.

 

Inclusive workforces

Businesses see having a diverse and inclusive workforce as important for future success. 77% have taken action in the past five years to build more inclusive environments for staff. This means when you get a job, you’ll meet a team with an increased skillset and a welcome working environment.  

 

Graduate and apprenticeships

Growth in graduate roles remains strong, with some businesses looking to increase the amount of graduates they recruit. Many also plan to expand apprenticeship opportunities over the next 12 months. So great news if you’re a uni leaver or looking to develop your skills in an apprenticeship role.
