A Birmingham-based specialist in bespoke joinery and architectural metalwork business are looking for a Material and Procurement Coordinator to join the business. They craft unique, high-quality installations using hardwoods, architectural metals, and other premium materials.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Materials and Procurement Coordinator to join their dynamic team. This is a pivotal role within the business, responsible for sourcing materials and services at the best value while ensuring timely delivery to support our manufacturing programmes.

You'll work closely with internal departments-including sales, design, and production-and develop strong relationships with suppliers to resolve technical queries, manage procurement processes, and support smooth project delivery.

This position would suit someone with procurement experience in a manufacturing or construction-related environment, particularly with knowledge of joinery or metalwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with estimators during the tender process to obtain accurate budget pricing and flag long-lead items.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical queries before drawings are submitted for approval.
  • Place orders for requisitioned items, balancing cost-effectiveness with timely delivery.
  • Track and expedite deliveries to align with project schedules, escalating issues as necessary to the Setting Out or Contract Manager.
  • Manage sub-contract procurement and monitor progress to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Resolve any delivery delays or supply issues in collaboration with the relevant departments.
  • Match delivery notes against goods received and manage any defective items with suppliers.
  • Process and verify supplier invoices against deliveries, resolve discrepancies, and obtain credit notes as needed.
  • Follow all relevant company procedures and standing instructions, including glass checking and invoice management protocols.
  • Address and resolve commercial disputes with suppliers in the best interest of the company.

Requirements for the position
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a procurement or buyer role, ideally in manufacturing or construction
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a results-driven mindset
  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to team and company goals
  • Good working knowledge of joinery or metalwork (or a willingness to learn)

Desirable:
  • NVQ in Business or related qualification
  • Experience working with bespoke or high-specification materials

What they Offer
  • Salary of £33,000
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company pension scheme
  • Life insurance
  • 26 days holiday + bank holidays (including 4 days over Christmas and New Year)
  • 8:50am to 4:50pm or 7:50am to 3:50pm, Monday to Friday
