Senior Communications Engineer (Temporary - Birmingham)
Contract Type: Temporary (6-month duration)
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid, minimum 2 days in-office)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: 2nd June 2025
Rate: £34 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
Security Clearance: Must obtain BPSS clearance (Level B required, but Level C acceptable at start)
About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated
Senior Communications Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will take ownership of delivering high-quality communications systems design across a range of infrastructure sectors including defence, government, nuclear, and transportation.
The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, can confidently manage project deliverables, and is looking to broaden both technical and digital capabilities in a client-facing role.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design and delivery of communications systems, including BMS, CCTV, access control, IDS, PAVA, structured cabling, and network infrastructure.
- Liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Support installation and commissioning stages, including site visits.
- Manage work packages and ensure timely delivery.
- Contribute to business development activities and mentor junior team members.
- Produce reports, specifications, and technical documentation to industry standards.
- Collaborate on BIM modelling using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
Requirements:- Degree-qualified in Communications, Electronic Engineering, ICT or similar.
- Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership.
- Extensive design experience in construction or transportation.
- Skilled in systems integration and understanding of IP data networking.
- Previous experience in engineering consultancy and RIBA/BSRIA design stages.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- Familiarity with AV systems and digital design tools is a plus.
