Maternity Cover till Feb/March 2026
Central Bristol
£30,000 - £32,000 + Bonus
Monday - Friday | 35 hours per week
Flexible Hours: 8:00-4:00 | 8:30-4:30 | 9:00-5:00

About the Role
We're looking for a proactive Payroll & Accounts Assistant to join a fantastic team in Bristol on a maternity cover contract. You'll play a key role in maintaining financial records across two entities, processing payroll and benefits, and supporting financial reporting and audit preparation.

Key Responsibilities
Processing invoices, expenses, and credit card payments

Weekly cash flow forecasting

Managing the purchase order (PO) process

Performing monthly bank reconciliations

Collating and processing monthly payroll data in Sage Payroll, and preparing payroll journals

Managing benefits queries, liaising with HR, and collating benefit window information (including holiday purchases)

Monitoring accounts and payroll inboxes, responding to internal and external queries

Maintaining the fixed asset register and posting depreciation

Updating accruals, prepayments, and posting relevant journals in Sage Intacct

Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns and supporting data

Ensuring monthly lead schedules reconcile to Sage

Managing employee pension scheme updates, including salary changes and salary sacrifice selections

Monitoring CAF GAYE applications, preparing monthly reports, and submitting payments to CAF

Preparing and issuing fee schedules for counterparties

Supporting the Finance Manager with data preparation for audits and statutory accounts

Assisting with other ad hoc finance tasks as required

Key Skills & Experience
Sage Intacct Accounts and Sage Payroll experience

Strong bookkeeping skills and large journal processing experience

Good working knowledge of Excel

Experience managing and administering company benefits is desirable but not essential

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with excellent attention to detail

Strong communication and organisation skills
