Our renowned client in the Atherstone area is currently recruiting for a Culinary Assistant within its sampling department.
 
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a large well known retail business in their pursuit for product excellence. You will be working in their cutting-edge kitchen and staging area, where food and drink samples will be compared and contrasted against like-for-like products from competitors.
 
Texture, flavour, and general presentation will then be discussed and evaluated, before providing feedback to their in-house chefs for recipes to be tweaked accordingly.
 
You will be playing a vital role in preparing the kitchen area, setting tables, serving the sampling team, and clearing tables in between taste tests. Additionally, you may be involved in helping the field-based shopping team collect products to be involved in blind tests.
 
Absolutely no food-prep experience is required, although some experience in a waitering/ waitressing background would be vital.
 
Key responsibilities of the Culinary Assistant include;

• Maintaining strict cleanliness of the lab / kitchen area at all times
• Serving guests who are taking part in product taste tests
• Setting and clearing tables, loading dishwashers
• Acting as a kitchen helper / porter helping to ensure rapid turnaround time between sample events
• Supporting the shopping team with collecting sample items from the wider market
• Using MS Excel package to a basic level – manually entering receipt details into system

 
In order to be successful for this role, you will require the following:
 

• A highly positive, confident outward demeanour
• Ability to communicate clearly with a combination of senior internal and external stakeholders
• Fantastic customer service and eagerness to strive for continuous excellence
• Highly organised and able to work well under pressure
• A proven catering / hospitality background in a premium environment (bar or restaurant)
• A proactive team player with very close attention to detail

 
In return for our Culinary Sampling Assistant role, you will earn a rate of £15.86 per hour.
 
Hours of work: 0800 – 1530 Monday to Friday
