Pertemps are recruiting for a Country Parks Operative to work with a Public Sector organisation based in West Lothian on a temporary basis. The Country Parks Operative will be involved in the day to day operations and management of the Animal Attraction at a Country Park. The role must ensure a high level of animal welfare and a quality visitor attraction. . Working across all 3 Country Parks, the post holder will participate in delivering project work, natural resource management and maintenance duties as required e.g. Animal Attraction, play areas, caravan & camping site, golf course and driving range and wider open spaces
Role: Country Park Operative Assignment: temporary immediate start Pay: £13.12 per hour Hours: 36hrs Mon - Sun on a rota Location: Based at Beecraigs Country Park, West Lothian
Responsibilities " Carrying out maintenance and inspections on assets, including livestock, across Country Parks and open spaces.
" Responsible for carrying out duties as instructed.
" Carry out all work in a safe and systematic manner in accordance with best practice and health and safety legislation.
" Responsible for the 'day to day' maintenance and care of all PPE, plant and vehicles used at work and reporting back any accidents or defects to appropriate supervisory staff, ensuring the security of all small plant and equipment.
" Assist in the development and delivery of management and work plans.
" Responsible for the accurate and timeous completion of job sheets, vehicle log books, equipment/ health & safety and work records.
" Work to Health and Safety guidelines as regards HAVs monitoring and keep records as required. " Ensure good working practise is followed at all times with excellent levels of housekeeping within a public environment. " Work to required legislative requirements e.g. maintaining animal movement records, animal welfare records " Produce and deliver work plans, reports and presentations as required. " Work with / alongside any sub-contractors, professionals and consultants as appropriate to ensure necessary functions are carried out within Country Parks facilities. " Conduct service activities in line with the section's Service Standards and procedures. " Assist in the development of strategic outline business cases for projects.
" Work in association with other staff having input into the land management process or countryside recreation, informal access, livestock management and conservation.
" Work to the service standards, policies and procedures.
" Proactively identify and suggest changes to improve service delivery.
" The post holder must demonstrate skills in tact, diplomacy and confidentiality. " Deal with customer enquiries on site in a helpful and constructive manner
Undertake and review Risk and COSHH Assessments and create associated Safe Systems of Work as required and ensure they are followed at all times
- Candidates must have experience of livestock management preferable with cattle, sheep and red deer. - Drivers licence essential - Have a good level of fitness - Be able to work on your own initiative and have good time management skills.
