Job Title: IT Device Deployment Engineer
Location: Edinburgh (Fully Office-Based)
Duration: 6 Months (ASAP Start)
Rate: £130 per day (Inside IR35)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Basic Disclosure Cost: £25 (if successful)
We are seeking an experienced IT Device Deployment Engineer to lead and coordinate a large-scale laptop refresh initiative, replacing approximately 650 devices and 100 displays. This role is fully office-based in Edinburgh and involves the full lifecycle of IT asset deployment, including setup, user support, inventory management, and asset disposal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the refresh of 650 laptops and 100 displays, including asset tagging, setup, deployment, and disposal.
- Conduct Goods Inwards processes, identifying discrepancies, shortages, or damage and ensuring prompt resolution.
- Maintain clean and organised stockrooms and storage areas.
- Provide post-deployment support to users, resolving issues and sharing knowledge with ServiceDesk colleagues.
- Ensure the accuracy and maintenance of the asset register and inventory management locations.
- Update and optimise asset handling SOPs for improved efficiency and data accuracy.
- Perform minor repairs to hardware/software and install operating systems and software for optimal device performance.
- Collaborate with other departments such as Procurement, ServiceDesk, and Employee Enablement teams.
- Adhere to occupational health and safety guidelines, including manual handling of IT assets.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience using ServiceNow Platform for task and asset management.
- Expertise in deploying Windows 11 devices in a corporate government environment.
- Proficiency with Intune, SCCM, and Microsoft Office 365 suite for laptop builds and application deployment.
- Hands-on experience with HP EliteBook laptops.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service, providing support to a variety of user types.
- Proven ability to escalate issues effectively and communicate standard operating procedures.
- PAT Testing certification and experience.
- Extensive experience in hardware inventory management of end-user IT equipment.
- Ability to create rollout and asset management plans, covering technical design, logistics, governance, risk considerations, and training requirements.
- Experience working in mature agile teams, demonstrating collaboration, forward-thinking, and workload visualisation.
- Familiarity with ITIL(R) Foundation Certification in IT Service Management.
- Strong documentation skills, including service documentation creation and maintenance.
