A rare opportunity has become available for a trainee quantity surveyor with an Exeter based construction business. Joining a well-respected company who have an excellent reputation in the market, for delivering high quality projects, low staff turnover and excellent feedback! The company is prepared to fully fund you through a HNC/HND or apprenticeship route to become a surveyor. The remit to join them is fairly open, you will just need to be prepared to complete the above study whilst working, likely to be on day release, and have a keen interest in becoming a quantity surveyor within the construction industry! Snap shot of duties:- Carrying out site measures and working closely with the Surveyor.
- Assisting the QS in pricing of non-standard client extras, updating of the Cost of Sales in the Viability Manager and with the production of H & S packs for Housing Association plots.
- Checking database and updating CRM system
- Carrying out drawing take-offs and producing labour only rates working closely with the Surveyor, including maintaining the databases and distributing information.
- Paying designated utility bills including liaison with sales and utility company to ensure readings are correct.
- Assisting the Surveyor/Construction Director in updating build completion dates via company system as necessary.
- Assisting in the production of the Group Rebate Form.
- Paying designated invoices and applications in line with Authorisation Levels and Commercial Procedures.
- Site booking in administration, including liaison with the Site Surveyor and Payroll, checking rates and record bookings etc.
- Assisting the QS with the production of information for Code for Sustainable Homes.
- Making general material enquiries and assisting the Surveyor with material procurement and reporting as necessary.
Skills and Attributes required:- Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as you will be regularly attending site visits.
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
- Keen interest in starting a career in surveying or recently started in the industry.
- Wanting to start either a HNC/D in construction/surveying or potentially going down an apprenticeship route
- Computer literate
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Willingness to learn.

- Motivated individual
