Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor – Exeter
We are seeking to speak with an inspiring and driven Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team within a forward-thinking construction company. The successful candidate will work on refurbishment projects for major clients in both the public and private sectors, with project values typically up to a few million pounds. 

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the financial position of projects while ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining strong contractual relationships. This role will involve providing essential commercial support to the Commercial Manager and senior management team on various projects across the region. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are procured and delivered within budget.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial and contractual aspects of contracts.
• Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to review contract terms and conditions.
• Oversee the procurement and management of suppliers and subcontractors.
• Submit and agree on client valuations and final accounts.
• Ensure that variations are reported and costed promptly.
• Maximise the cash position for each project.
• Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports for company accounts.
• Identify and manage financial risks and opportunities.
• Assist the Contracts Manager with project reporting.
• Provide estimating and contract management support as needed.
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, as well as the supply chain.

Requirements:

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying (or working towards it) is desirable.
• Proven experience managing projects up to £2m in value.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project software.
• A valid driving licence.
