Principal Electrical Engineer

Position: Principal Electrical Design Engineer 
Location: Manchester (Hybrid working) 
Salary: £55,000 to £65,000, based on experience

A prominent multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their building services team in Manchester.

The consultancy works across various niche sectors, including residential developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, data centres, energy, and more. Their approach focuses on balancing form and function while managing priorities such as sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Key responsibilities as a Principal Electrical Engineer includes working collaboratively with an Electrical Associate or Technical Director, supporting tasks such as project surveys, design, specifications, and contract management. Additionally, a Principal Engineer may participate in business development efforts.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and possess the experience and qualifications to achieve Incorporated Engineer status, aligned with IET or CIBSE standards.

Additional qualifications include:

• Proficiency in designing electrical systems, from concept to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A), including low voltage electrical distribution, lighting, power supplies, fire alarms, ICT cabling, and cable containment
• Experience with Amtech software
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings
• Knowledge of Building Regulations Part L compliance
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
• Expertise in technical design software
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
