The Role:This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a time-served machinist looking to take the next step into management while remaining technically involved. The successful candidate will oversee production planning, machine maintenance, and team management while ensuring high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities:- Machining Expertise – Oversee and advise on the operation of manual machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders, ensuring precision in low-volume production.
- Production Oversight – Coordinate production schedules, capacity planning, and machine loading to meet customer demands.
- Team Leadership – Support and manage a small team of skilled machinists, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
- Process Improvement – Work closely with design engineers, sales, and production teams to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality.
- Maintenance & Tooling Management – Organise machine maintenance and tooling orders, ensuring smooth operation with minimal downtime.
About You:To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Time-served machining experience (manual & CNC) with a strong understanding of engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of precision machining, mould work, and rubber/polyurethane manufacturing.
- Leadership or supervisory experience in an engineering/manufacturing setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments and manage production schedules.
