Financial Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our client’s team in the Stoke-on-Trent area. This is a key role overseeing the accounting operations and supporting the business with financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities of this Financial Controller role:

Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
Manage the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and management information, with support from the management accountant.
Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies, maintaining internal controls and ensuring financial systems are optimized.
Lead and supervise the financial department team, managing the audit process and collaborating with external auditors.
Work closely with the CFO to support the business with financial strategy and decision-making.

Skills and Competencies required of this Financial Controller role:

Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a finance team.
Exceptional communication skills, able to explain complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills, able to interpret financial data, identify trends, and solve problems effectively.
Impeccable attention to detail, ensuring high accuracy in financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
Advanced proficiency in financial software, with experience in accounting software and financial management systems. Experience with SAP Business One is highly desirable.
Strong business acumen, understanding the broader business context and how financial decisions impact the company.
Adaptability to changing financial regulations and business environments.
Excellent decision-making skills, contributing to the overall financial health and success of the organisation.
ACA or ACCA fully qualified, or equivalent level qualifications will be considered.
Several years of post-qualification experience in a similar role.
Professional understanding of UK GAAP. Knowledge of IFRS is advantageous.

Details of this Financial Controller role:

Competitive salary of £55,000 - £60,000.
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
