We are thrilled to partner with Hammersmith and Fulham Council to find a highly skilled Solicitor to join their Legal and Democratic Services team. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the efficient and impactful delivery of legal services in one of London's most vibrant boroughs.

Role: Solicitor (Planning, Highways, and Licensing)
Location: Hammersmith and Fulham
Department: Legal and Democratic Services
Reports to: Chief Solicitor (Planning and Property)
Extra Hours Information: 1 day per week in the office, with a Planning Committee meeting held once a month in the evening.

Role Purpose:

As a Solicitor specializing in Planning, Highways, and Licensing law, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Council's legal services are delivered with excellence and a strong customer focus. You will provide expert legal advice, support the development of planning agreements, and manage complex cases. Your work will contribute directly to the Council's goals and the well-being of its residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality legal advice on planning, highways, and licensing matters.
• Draft and negotiate S106 Agreements and Highways Agreements.
• Represent the Council in legal proceedings, public inquiries, appeals, and judicial reviews.
• Work on significant regeneration projects within the borough.
• Attend and advise at Planning Committee meetings.
• Support the Chief Solicitor with legal documentation and the preparation of cases.
• Advise the Borough Solicitor on potential legal risks.
• Mentor and supervise junior team members as you progress in your role.
• Achieve and exceed annual chargeable hours targets.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX entitled to practice in England and Wales.
• At least 5 years of experience advising on planning and highways matters, including negotiating S106 Agreements and Highways Agreements.
• Proven experience working on regeneration projects and attending planning committee meetings.
• Strong knowledge of planning, highways, and local government law.
• Willingness to develop expertise in licensing law.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal issues in plain English.
• Desirable: Experience working within a local government team.
