Job Description

British Sign Language Communication Worker - Gateshead 

Are you a passionate BSL Specialist eager to make a positive impact on pupils' lives? We are seeking a dedicated BSL support team member to join the Hearing Impairment Team, supporting pupils in various Primary key stages in Gateshead. This role involves providing 1:1 support across different year groups.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
- Support pupils with BSL on a 1:1 basis.
- Work across a range of Primary stages.
- Manage challenging behavior positively and consistently.
- Adapt learning strategies to suit individual pupil needs.
- Collaborate effectively with Class Teachers and other Teaching Assistants.
- Engage actively with pupils to support their learning.
- Utilise diverse approaches and assessment strategies to foster pupil progress.
 
Requirements:
 
- Enhanced DBS (we can assist with the application process).
- BSL qualification.
- Experience in 1:1 BSL support.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Resilient, proactive, and positive attitude.
- Experience in classroom support.
- High levels of enthusiasm and energy.
- Genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
- Must be able to drive and have access to a car (mileage paid).
