A leading UK energy business are seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead and shape maintenance operations across a national network. This newly created role will drive standardisation, efficiency, and best practice in maintenance processes across a diverse portfolio, including depots, forecourts, and terminals.
You will report directly to the Head of Engineering and play a pivotal role in the Safety, Sustainability & Engineering function. Overseeing two regional Engineering Managers (North and South), you will set the blueprint for maintenance excellence, ensuring robust governance, process development, and strategic oversight.
Role: Head of Maintenance Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum + benefits + bonuses Location: Nationwide (ideally centrally located) Key Responsibilities for the Head of Maintenance - Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of Engineering Managers and the wider Maintenance Team
- Develop, implement, and audit maintenance processes, policies, and procedures
- Define governance frameworks and oversee service level agreements
- Manage asset performance and maintenance budgets (c. £5m)
- Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to standardise maintenance across the group
- Support major project delivery from a maintenance perspective
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on process improvement
Requirements for the Head of Maintenance - Significant experience in Oil & Gas or closely related downstream industries
- Proven leadership of engineering teams in regulated environments (fuel, petroleum, chemical, hazardous waste)
- Strong technical qualifications in Engineering (Master’s, Degree, HNC, or HND)
- Experience in COMAH-regulated environments highly desirable
- Excellent stakeholder management and analytical skills
- Comfortable working remotely with occasional travel; ideally based with good transport links
