Job Description

Role: Platform Engineer
Location: Shrivenham (Hybrid – 3 Days a Week In-Office)
Salary: £35,000 – £50,000
We are looking for a Platform Engineer who has experience maintaining, designing and optimising platform infrastructure in supporting critical business operations (e.g. AD, SCCM, SolarWinds, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), User Access Devices (UADs), as well as Networking and Network Storage.
You will leverage automation to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual input, and ensure the scalability and reliability of platform services.
Role Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and manage enterprise platform technologies (e.g. Servers, Networks, Storage Systems).
  • Provide admin and maintenance of Active Directory, SCCM, SolarWinds and VDI solutions.
  • Provide automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Monitor infrastructure against business requirements and SLAs.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams in supporting technologies that directly impact end-users.
  • Implement automation scripting to streamline updates and deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and frameworks, whilst implementing Security by Design principles.
  • Develop and maintain architecture and usage documentation.
Experience
  • Strong experience in Platform/Infrastructure Support.
  • Expertise in managing Active Directory, SCCM, SolarWinds and other enterprise technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of scripting tools (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Experience supporting VDI platforms (VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V)
  • Strong exposure to networking and network storage systems.
  • Used ITSM tolls.
  • Experience with cloud platforms is highly desirable (e.g. AWS, Azure or GCP).
