Salary: £22,702.56 pro-rata (£25,403 FTE)
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only (41 weeks)

The Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Working alongside the teaching staff, you will play a key role in delivering lessons and supporting students as they gain both academic qualifications and essential life skills. Key responsibilities include:
• Leading small group activities to keep students focused and on track.
• Providing tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring their individual learning requirements are met.
• Assisting with classroom management and addressing behavioural and emotional challenges alongside the teacher.
• Delivering SEN interventions for students with education, health, and care plans (EHCP), focusing on areas like language difficulties and other learning barriers.
• Offering encouragement and feedback to boost students’ confidence and motivation in both academic and vocational subjects.
• Collaborating with teachers on lesson plans, learning objectives, and assessment support.
• Monitoring student progress and effectively communicating any concerns to the teaching team.
• Helping students develop skills essential for apprenticeships and further education.
This role requires a patient and empathetic approach, as you will be working with students who may have had negative experiences with education in the past. You will be a positive role model, helping them build their self-esteem and realise their potential.
Key Requirements:
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with the following qualifications and skills:
• Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
• Experience working with SEN students, including those with EHCPs and complex learning needs.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding, SEN support, and health and safety requirements in an educational environment.
• Experience collaborating with teachers to plan and deliver activities, as well as independently supporting small groups or individual students.
• Effective behaviour management skills, especially when working with students who may present challenging behaviours.
• A commitment to raising achievement levels and the resilience to support students with diverse needs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
