Product Design Engineer
Salary: £24,000 – £39,000 dependent on experience.
Position: Full Time / 8:30 – 17:00

The Opportunity
As part of our ongoing expansion, the opportunity has arisen to join our team in Daventry Northamptonshire. Working as a key part of the Product Design team, this role will be to create products from conception through to production.
 
The Person
We are looking for someone with experience / qualifications in mechanical / product design, design engineering or similar using SolidWorks. Ideally someone who has experience with sheet metal products and metal fabrications.
 
Key Duties

• Designing new products and modifying existing products using SolidWorks CAD software
• You will manage the complete product design lifecycle from brainstorming and concept development to project management and production
• Creating parts lists / BOM's using SolidWorks
• Creating engineering drawings
• Liaising with suppliers
• Physical testing of products
• Producing content for product instruction manuals (training will be given)
• Managing product data and documentation

 
Requirements

• Strong 3D CAD product design / engineering background using SolidWorks
• Experience with sheet metal and metal fabrications
• A good understanding of the design process and manufacturing techniques
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good team working and communication skills – sketch, written and verbal
• Self-motivated, organised multi-tasker capable of managing projects
• Must be able to use initiative, suggest ideas and improvements to products
• Competent using PCs and Windows
• General workshop skills
• May be asked to assist with setting up stands at exhibitions in the UK, Europe and internationally if required (approximately 1-2 per year)
• Must be able to lift a 25kg weight to chest height for product testing

Desirable but Non-Essential Skills

• Experience with aluminium extrusions and plastics would be an advantage
• FEA stress analysis / simulation would be an advantage
• Experience in the AV industry would be an advantage
• Previous experience with a PDM system would be an advantage (training given)
