Assistant Buyer

Join our client as an Assistant Buyer and play a key role in shaping an outstanding product range for customers. This is your chance to work with a dynamic team, develop supplier relationships, and make a real impact in a fast-paced retail environment.

This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, based in Derriford, Plymouth, UK offering a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Buyer in sourcing innovative and high-quality products.
• Negotiate favourable terms with suppliers to drive value and efficiency.
• Manage daily supplier communications and maintain strong relationships.
• Achieve margin and sell-through targets.
• Analyse competitors and maintain the perfect product mix.
• Contribute to the buying process by:
  • Attending buying meetings.
  • Travelling within the UK and abroad when necessary.
  • Forecasting stock and placing orders.
  • Attending buying appointments to gather product insights.

• Experience in a retail or fast-paced trading environment.
• Strong analytical skills, especially in Excel.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and full of fresh ideas.
• A deep understanding of retail trends and how to translate them into exceptional product offerings.

Position: Temporary (for 12 weeks probation) to Permanent, Full-time
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:45 am – 5:30 pm
