Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled MIG Welder to join our busy welding and fabricating team at Royal Mail. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out hot and cold mechanical repairs to loading trolleys and containers within a warehouse and workshop environment. You will also assist with loading, unloading, and moving containers using a forklift truck, as well as occasionally assembling and installing fabricated products.
In this role, you will work to strict deadlines to meet daily targets and operational demands. Maintaining safety at all times is crucial, and you will be responsible for conducting daily checks on welding equipment. Additionally, there may be times when you are required to cover for the Site Manager, opening and securing the site at a supervisory level.
Key Responsibilities:

• Welding and fabricating loading trolleys and containers.
• Carrying out both hot and cold mechanical repairs.
• Operating a Forklift Truck to assist with loading/unloading.
• Assembly and installation of fabricated products as required.
• Ensuring health and safety practices are followed.
• Meeting daily targets and demand deadlines.
• Conducting daily checks on all welding equipment.
• Supervisory duties when covering for the Site Manager.

Skills and Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Welder/Fabricator.
• Ability to work with a range of materials, including steel and zinc coatings.
• Competency in MIG and TIG welding.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings (basic level preferred).
• Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence is advantageous.
• Experience working in a workshop environment.
• Strong "can-do" attitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills to manage customer expectations.
