Job Description

We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our Camberley team as an Electrical Technician in our Waste Pumping Team.

Working in the Camberley and surrounding areas you will be operating and maintaining approximately 250 waste pumping stations. Maintaining these assets ensures we help deliver life’s essential service to our customers, communities and the environment so keeping pumps available and running is our primary goal.

You will be working in a small team and on your own ensuring the assets on site remain in service. This will involve routine maintenance and problem-solving when things go wrong. The team are keen to welcome and train new people to help them ensure all the plants remain in service.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
  • Carrying out scheduled planned and reactive maintenance work on a variety of wastewater residential assets and industrial electrical machinery in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
  • Where required, communicating with the customer in a professional manner and throughout the process, whilst meeting their expectations, at all times.
  • You will investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Base Location - Camberley - GU15 3YL

Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday - Friday 7:30 am – 15:36pm plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earning by potential £8,000 - £10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

All PPE, tools, van and fuel card are Provided.

What you should bring to the role
  • 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
  • Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a ‘true multi-skilled capacity.
  • Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
  • Ideally experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would benefit this role.
  • The work will require physical fitness.
  • You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
