We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our waste team as the Electrical Technician at Earlswood STW.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
You will also be working in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying- out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on Electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
- Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Base Location - Earlswood - Redhill - RH1 5HE.
38 hours per week Monday-Friday.7:30 am -3:36 pm plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional Payment.
All PPE, Tools Plus and Van will be provided.
What you should bring to the role - 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds Certification or equivalent is crucial.
- Ideally, an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a ‘true multi-skilled capacity.
- Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
- Ideally experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would benefit this role.
- The work will require physical fitness.
- You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
