Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Coordinator to work in the Northeast London region in our Waste Business. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the management of the pre-requisites (materials, permits, resources and services) for all complex jobs for planned and reactive work across maintenance and operations.

This role will involve day-to-day contractor liaison and management, input into future planning and solutions, and providing technical support to the wider team.

The Technical Coordinator role is key to Northeast London, without this role customer journeys and sewer health would take a significant impact. This role is responsible for authorising works on the sewer and securing the funding for any rectification works required.

Due to the nature of this role you can be based at either our Beckton or Riverside Sites depending on your location.

What you’ll be doing as the Technical Coordinator
  • You will play a key role as part of a team ensuring that some of our largest and historic pumping stations are operational and maintained to the correct standard.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring the materials required to maintain the plant is available for the maintenance team to complete tasks, by specifying and ordering materials.
  • Management and organisation of contractors to carry out repairs and fault diagnosis on pumps and the supporting equipment.
  • Reviewing maintenance activities for continuous improvement and compliance with asset standards.
  • This role will require a large focus on engagement and communication with key stakeholders to ensure all activities are planned effectively and efficiently.
  • Be the lead person with specific activities within a designated area, including directing on briefed projects and providing support on larger scale projects.

What should you bring to the role?
  • Relevant experience working within Water or Wastewater treatment or comparable industry, preferably experience as a Mechanical and Electrical technician or ICA technician.
  • Timed served an apprenticeship and relevant technical qualification.
  • Highly logical - able to decide on and build the dependencies between task.
  • Collaborative – able to work closely with Planners, Field Performance Managers, suppliers, and 3rd parties.
  • Technically experienced with a good understanding of how to maintain assets.
  • Good local knowledge of how important an asset is to a site and how it relates to other assets.
  • Meticulous at documenting the finer details of what needs to take place.
  • Able to manage a large workload of numerous jobs in parallel.
  • Competent with IT systems (will use SAP extensively) as well as strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Clean driving license.
