We have an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable individual to take on the pivotal role of Lead Operations Liaison Engineer within our Capital Delivery teams. As the manager of the operational liaison team, you will be responsible for engaging with key stakeholders across multiple departments and ensuring the needs of our customers are met. In this role, you will work collaboratively with peers and take ownership of your suite of projects/programmes. You will also handle day-to-day management duties and any first-line technical escalations.

What you’ll be doing as a Lead Operations Engineer
  • Understand and support operational compliance requirements, liaising with the project team to ensure compliance is maintained. This could include assisting with the SHE17 at the end of a project, participating in SHE6 and reporting safety hazards.
  • Manage the day-to-day management of the team, made up of direct reports and delivery partners, to ensure that the team achieves project delivery outputs.
  • Manage in a way that drives performance and development, building collaborative and capable teams with brilliant customer engagement.
  • Adopt the standardised approach to operational engagement to ensure efficient governance and that the engagement meets the necessary quality standards with the development of Project Agreement Documents with the project managers, and or lead designers/need promoters.
  • Ensure a clear communication plan between the project team and operations, including facilitating site visits, to set the project up for success.
  • Support key design reviews (Solutions review / Challenge Workshop, HAZOP, SWIFT, OPMAN) as needed, as requested by project managers.
  • Lessons learned from previous projects are taken into consideration.
  • Ensures that the End User requirements and solution recommendations are considered and taken into account during project delivery, project reviews, and the approvals process. 
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring the operational benefits are embedded and realized throughout the AMP, intervening and implementing solutions where this is not the case, and ensuring that the benefits and expectations of Operations are realized after the projected takeover. 
  • Based in Hybrid, Maple Lodge or Hybrid Hampton Coal Wharf, you will be required on-site as part of your role 2-3 times a week.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

This role does require a driver's licence and access to a car. The role does come with a £4.500 car allowance.

What you should bring to the role
  • Strong communication skills and evidence of stakeholder management.
  • Conflict management skills in a project delivery/contractor management environment.
  • Understanding the operational team pressures with the ability to identify and breakdown system processes, and operational and technological difficulties to assist in the development of solutions.

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, SMSTS or IOSH.
  • Understanding of the stage gate process and intelligent client model.
  • Understanding of performance and quality management.
