Pertemps are currently looking to recruit an experienced Team Manager to join Plymouth City Council's Families First Children's Service on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a vital service during a key period of transformation.

About the Role
This temporary position is available from August to November 2025, supporting the ongoing implementation of PCC's new front door model. The successful candidate will lead a team delivering a 24/7 safeguarding response for children and young people across Plymouth.

You'll be working within a service designed around the two key principles of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023:
- Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility - every professional and organisation plays a part.
- A child-centred approach - services must be based on a clear understanding of the needs and views of children.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of social work professionals.
- Ensure effective multi-agency collaboration and child-centred decision-making.
- Participate in the on-call rota (Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm).
- Support the delivery of a high-quality, responsive safeguarding service.

Service Overview:
The Families First Children's Service operates:
- Monday to Friday: 8am - 8pm
- Weekends & Bank Holidays: 9am - 5pm

An Emergency Duty Service covers out-of-hour's needs, with Team Managers providing on-call support on a rota basis. Calls outside of these hours are triaged by a call centre and responded to the following day unless urgent.

Requirements:
- Registered with Social Work England (HCC requirement).
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Proven experience in managing children's social care teams.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and multi-agency working.

Why Apply?
This is a unique opportunity to:
- Play a key role in shaping a new service model.
- Work alongside dedicated professionals in a supportive environment.
- Make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people, and families in Plymouth.

You'll also benefit from comprehensive training and professional development opportunities while contributing to a service that truly puts children first.
