As a Lead Planner you will be part of the Bio Recycling & Biosolids planning team and, working alongside Bio-Recycling, Biosolids, Transport Delivery and site operations teams to ensure Inventory holding plans are efficient and effectively implemented to guarantee high service levels at optimum cost.
Your role will form part of the Logistics Operational Control Centre (LOCC) team, the in-house centre of excellence for complex and diverse logistics functions across Thames Water. You will be working within a unique cross-functional team, balancing operational demand and strategic thinking, influencing decisions at different levels up to senior management and help shape what we do every day and in the future.

What you will be doing as a Lead Planner- Being responsible for producing innovative operational plans to continuously improve the operation.
- Scheduling and executing daily/weekly planning for inter-site & Bio solids resources throughout the TW Region of Operations.
- Understanding and operating in-house planning software to produce optimal transport plans and in-house developed resource models.
- Challenging current operational methodologies and implement new ways of working.
- Performing trend analysis on performance and conformance to the plan, reporting findings to the lead planner and manager.
- Providing technical development and support for current and new team members.
- Working alongside and developing relationships with the shift planning and scheduling team supporting and where possible avoiding pollutions by diverting and sharing resources more effectively.
- Liaising and building relationships with the Logistics Delivery team to improve driver productivity.
Location – Based at Kemble Court, in Reading but will be required to work at Iver or Basingstoke on occasion.
36 Hours per week - Shifts: 05.30am-13.30pm, 07.30am-15.30pm, 09.30am-17.30pm.
What you should bring to the role- Previous experience in an office-based Logistics, Planning or Scheduling role.
- Proven experience working in fast paced environments and meeting targets.
- Strong IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Office and use of different systems.
- Geographical knowledge of the Thames valley area.
- Excellent customer service experience.
- Proven experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organised and have excellent attention to detail.
