We are recruiting Mechanical and electrical Technicians to Join our Water Production team and work out of our Chingford or Coppermills Water Treatment Works.
As a successful candidate, you will work in multi-discipline teams and carry out scheduled, planned reactive, out-of-hours, and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- Carrying out planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Provide technical advice to the broader team, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Chingford - E4 7PX, or Coppermills - East London - E17 7HE.
Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday- Friday 77:30 am– 3:36 pm plus standby and overtime opportunities, increasing earnings by a potential £8-£ 10k per annum upon completing essential company training.
Company Van, PPE and all Tools are also provided.What you should bring to the role- To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualification.
- Experience working in water or a similar industry with skills transferrable from another sector.
- Experience working on large industrial plant equipment, including various pumps, within the utility industry would be beneficial. This would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineers or mechanics from any industry.
- 18TH Edition would be beneficial but not a requirement, but one must be willing to obtain it during probation.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
- The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often physically demanding roles.
- Be able to work in restricted areas.
- A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as tools, are provided.
- Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them; you must be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you, and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding, too.
- Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to understand the problem entirely, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
- Teamwork – We are one team with the same end goals.
- Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
- Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
