Job Description

This exciting opportunity is for a high-performing senior project manager to lead a project that will invest over £250 million in the United Kingdom’s largest wastewater treatment works in Beckton, London.

This will directly contribute to Thames Water's Capital Delivery programme and Turnaround plan. Join us and spearhead the exciting changes at Thames Water!

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Project Manager
  • You’ll be a client-side Senior Project Manager responsible for the investment from initial design through construction and completion.
  • Overall accountability for project programme, cost and quality and leading the project team to meet project objectives.
  • Establish a project health and safety culture and lead with a health and safety mindset.
  • Working collaboratively with our external supply chain and driving contractor performance.
  • Support the definition of solutions to meet the project objectives and be responsible for preparing a clear business case.
  • Effective liaison with the relevant town planning authorities and critical internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running and timely project delivery.
  • Contribute to steering project-wide continuous improvement and delivering against stretching targets.
  • Commercially manage all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.
  • Take accountability for governance compliance throughout the project's lifecycle, leading to a smooth transition into operational business.
The role is hybrid working but will be required to be on-site at Beckton, Barking – London, typically 3 days a week, with attendance occasionally required in our Clearwater Court office, Reading.

What you should bring to the role
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering complex projects in the built environment, infrastructure or utility industry
  • An engineering or other relevant degree or qualification within a business or project management qualification
  • Knowledgeable in managing contract specification preparation, tendering, and tender evaluation processes with experience in negotiation
  • Demonstrate your capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making
  • Confidence in speaking to all levels of external and internal stakeholders
