Senior Project Manager

£67,000 to £88,000 per annum + car allowance, bonus, pension and benefits

Hybrid – Access to Reading

As Senior Project Manager, you will lead a team of Project Managers and also take a hands-on approach in directly managing key £multi-million projects, which will continue over the next few years. You will also lead new projects by defining the scope and programme and managing the procurement and subsequent delivery for further significant investment in AMP8 over the next 5 years. This will directly contribute to Thames Water's Capital Delivery programme, so join us and spearhead the exciting changes at Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Project Manager
  • Take accountability for governance compliance and internal/external stakeholder engagement throughout the project's lifecycle, leading to a smooth transition into operational business.
  • Support the definition of solutions to meet the project objectives and be responsible for preparing a clear business case.
  • Develop the best procurement strategy for the project and oversee the specifications and production of contract documentation.
  • Develop a strategy for obtaining any required third-party consents, highlighting program and project risks relating to the consents required.
  • Effective liaison with the relevant town planning authorities and critical internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running and timely project delivery.
  • Manage and ensure the performance of consultants and contractors to deliver project outcomes that are timely, cost-effective, and high-quality.
  • Contribute to steering project-wide continuous improvement and delivering against stretching targets.
  • Commercially manage all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.
Role Location: This role will be based on a hybrid basis, in Clearwater Court, Reading  

Working Hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role
  • An engineering or other relevant degree or qualification within a business or project management qualification.
  • Knowledge of the construction, infrastructure or utility industry and business knowledge with prior involvement in delivering major complex projects (up to £100m in value) within a regulated infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledgeable in managing contract specification preparation, tendering, and tender evaluation processes with experience in negotiation.
  • Demonstrate your capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making.
  • Confidence in speaking to all levels of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a positive engaging style with stakeholders and contractors.
