Job Description

As a Network Asset Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in safeguarding our water network by maintaining and improving trunk mains monitoring equipment. This involves fault diagnosis, maintenance, testing, installation, and repair—ensuring our network runs smoothly and mitigating the risk of trunk mains bursts.

You’ll also contribute to major and minor capital projects while minimising disruption to customers, public spaces, and highways.

What you’ll be doing as a Network Asset Maintenance Technician:
  • Inspect and repair trunk mains monitoring equipment to prevent leaks and failures.
  • Install and modify network assets, ensuring compliance with health & safety and street works legislation.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical support and updates on asset maintenance.
  • Support innovation by implementing new technologies and improving network monitoring processes.
  • Ensure efficient use of materials and stock forecasting to minimise costs and waste.
  • Actively contribute to health and safety initiatives and compliance.
  • Represent Thames Water professionally while prioritising customer-focused solutions.

Base Location: Cricklewood - North West London - NW2 6XD.

Working Pattern: 38 hours per week, from Monday to Wednesday - 06:30 - 16:00 and Thursday - 20:00 - 05:30. (night shift)

What you should bring to the role:
  • Strong knowledge of water networks and maintenance processes.
  • Relevant experience in network asset maintenance, leakage detection, or water mains work.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team while delivering results under SLAs.
  • Proficiency in IT systems such as GIS, Z-One, Smartchart, and Trunkminder. (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail and strategic problem-solving abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).

Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working on large-scale water network projects.
  • Familiarity with asset monitoring and reporting tools.
  • Data analytics and reporting skills to support asset management improvements.
