Job Description

As an Engineering Project Manager in our Capital Delivery team, you’ll be at the heart of this transformation.

What you’ll be doing as an Engineering Project Manager
  • Act as the Engineering Project Manager responsible for the design & build of the Water Treatment Process, including Reservoir storage and SEMD by project delivery procedures. For projects ranging in complexity between £100k to £5m in value managed directly by the team.
  • Acting as the Project lead from conception to handover of planned projects or urgent/emergency works. Being able to come up with robust and safe concepts and/or solutions is a key requirement for this position. 
  • Take the lead in planning and delivering design & build activities, including commissioning.
  • Accountable for developing the projects and documentation for submission through the Governance process to achieve the correct funding to deliver the project as required by the internal stakeholders/client.
  • Work with the team to achieve the time and cost targets.
  • Work with and indirectly manage a wider Thames Water team of multi-function engineers, as well as environmental, construction, and commercial assurance support.
  • Act as the key contact to support the CDM Designer or Principal Designer role, particularly for projects where in-house engineers undertake the design.
  • Competent in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation, and control. A key requirement for this position is the ability to de-risk and add value during the outline design stage.
  • Provide Project Assurance during the delivery, commissioning and handover of assets.
  • Capable of working on several projects and managing the works awarded to Internal stakeholders, framework suppliers/contractors and external consultants.

This role will be based on a hybrid basis at either a site in Reading, Witney or Latton.
Depending on business needs, you must work on-site and in the office 2-3 days a week.

This role will require the successful candidate to hold a driver's licence and access to a car, and the role comes with a £4.500 car allowance.

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience working on large civil projects is ideal, as is a good working knowledge of the end-to-end project delivery process.
  • Knowledge of technical, commissioning and construction assurance
  • A focus on supporting and implementing continuous improvement.
  • Experience in managing project teams and accountability for project delivery.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate company IT systems and Office software.
