Job Description

As Information Governance Manager you will play a key role in managing the data subject rights and EIR (Environmental Information Regulation 2004) requests team, ensuring Thames Water's compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and EIR. This involves supporting and guiding the business in fulfilling its regulatory obligations, ensuring timely and accurate responses, maintaining comprehensive records, and adhering to all applicable legal and regulatory standards.

What you will be doing as Information Governance Manager
  • Handling disputes and infringements related to data rights & EIRs
  • Identifying risks related to data rights or EIRs and developing mitigation strategies
  • Leading policy decisions and changes for Data Subject Rights and EIRs
  • Representing Thames Water at Data Protection/EIR governance forums
  • Managing stakeholders and providing insights to key business areas, ensuring best practices
  • Managing a small team of Data Protection advisors
What you should bring to the role
  • An in-depth knowledge of the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 or the Freedom of Information Act 2000, including the application of relevant exceptions and an understanding of how the regulations interact with data protection legislation.
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK Data Protection Act 2018/ UK GDPR including experience of managing DSRRs and requests for information. 
  • Excellent experience of implementing new policies and processes across multiple business units.
  • First class communication and interpersonal skills, a strong influencer.
  • Understanding of data – types of data, data quality and data processing.
  • Strong written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • An experienced people manager, with the ability to motivate the team and foster a ‘one team’ ethic.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture but with an eye for detail.
