Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Hourly Rate: £14.25 PAYE per hour (subject to increase in line with Harrow Council pay scale)

Role Overview:
Pertemps Recruitment Partnership is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join Harrow Council as a Kitchen Assistant. We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to support a growing team. This role offers a competitive hourly rate, up to 28 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), and access to internal permanent vacancies within the council.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will:

• Work collaboratively within a team to deliver a responsive and efficient catering service.
• Assist in preparing, cooking, and serving meals in line with set menus.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Support stock control processes, including ordering and checking deliveries.
• Carry out routine legislative and health & safety checks.
• Uphold food safety and hygiene standards.
• Operate tills and manage cash/card transactions.
• Use kitchen equipment safely and appropriately.
• Report any issues to the Chef Manager or Senior Catering Assistant.
• Be available to work evenings and weekends when required.
• Perform other duties as appropriate to the role.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A basic understanding of food hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate required).
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Previous experience in a busy kitchen or restaurant environment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Good personal hygiene and the ability to carry out basic food preparation tasks.
