Materials Planner sought by the windows division of a global, £multibillion plastics manufacturer with close to 200 locations worldwide, to join their office in Ross-on-Wye.
The Role:As Materials Planner, you’ll be responsible for supporting the finished goods planning of in-house production and brought-in merchandise (e.g. hinges, reinforced steel, handles, brackets, locks), ensuring supply capability and supporting the company’s windows division to achieve their production and strategy targets. You will initially be the Lead Planner solely responsible for the windows division.
In this varied role, your duties will include:
- Demand determination, order triggering, goods receipt and inventory monitoring
- Invoice management for purchased items and delivery date management
- Troubleshooting delivery issues
- Creating reports for active customer communication
- Attending monthly production planning meetings
- Participation in technical, conceptual, and operational control of the scheduling processes
- Defining the minimum stock quantities in coordination with internal colleagues
- Working with Germany in a SAP projects team in moving to SAP from the legacy system
- Act as an example of best practice, eventually being responsible for cross training other departments
- Partake in a 2 month induction: 1 week in Germany (5 days) followed by a week in Ross-on-Wye (5 days) repeated over the 2 months until completion
The successful Materials Planner should have:- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Materials Planner, Production Planner, or similar
- Qualified by experience (a relevant qualification would be beneficial but is not essential)
- Experience of working in a similar fast-paced industry e.g. construction, FMCG (in particular food, breweries), or process industry
- SAP implementation experience, in particular APO module
- Familiarity with SAP language and system architecture / data flows
- Experience of third-party material planning
- Experience in Change Management – i.e. timetables, Gantt charts
- Attend meetings via Teams, follow actions on tracker and update as required
- Knowledge of process mapping
- Datasheet / data management experience
- Experienced with IT systems
- Ability to travel abroad for training
- Self-reliant
- Ability to work under pressure
