Are you passionate about supporting students in Art and Design Technology? We are seeking a DT & Art Technician to join our vibrant secondary school. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with teachers and students, making a meaningful impact on their educational journey.
Overall Job Purpose:
  • Support teaching and learning in Art and Design Technology in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Provide technical, practical, and administrative assistance to staff and students.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, materials, and resources in compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare policies are effectively applied.
  • Prepare, check, and set up equipment and materials for lessons.
  • Maintain and repair equipment, arranging specialist maintenance as needed.
  • Manage and organise workshop spaces, ensuring a safe and tidy environment.
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage resources in line with academy procedures.
  • Support classroom activities, including demonstrations and practical lessons.
  • Conduct risk assessments and health and safety checks.
  • Maintain manual and computerised records, providing administrative support as required.
  • Participate in enrichment activities and cross-curricular projects.
  • Support the ICT needs of the department, including CAD/CAM software.
  • Fulfil additional duties such as first aid or lunchtime supervision as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
  • Strong enthusiasm for Art, Design, and Technology.
  • Knowledge of workshop machinery and health and safety standards.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM, 2D Design, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable:
  • A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • First Aid training.
  • Experience working in a school environment or with children of diverse educational needs.
  • Knowledge of Electronics/Systems and Control.
  • Experience with DATA certification.
