Business Unit Director M&E Location: Kent Office
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 (basic)

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and visionary Business Unit Director to lead our M&E Division .
This critical leadership role will drive the strategic growth, operational performance, and cultural alignment of the business unit with our company values: Customer Centricity, Operational Excellence, Safety First, Ownership, and Results-Driven Performance.
You will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end operations, financial performance, team development, compliance, and client relationship management—ensuring the division consistently delivers high-quality service while maintaining a strong focus on safety and profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute business strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Set clear, measurable goals and performance targets for the division.
- Track and adjust business plans based on KPIs, financial metrics, and market trends.
- Ensure efficient day-to-day operations and seamless collaboration with helpdesk, engineers, and service teams.
- Allocate resources effectively to drive performance and service delivery.
- Champion process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and cost efficiency.
- Develop and manage the unit’s P&L, budgets, and forecasts.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and margin improvement through accurate job costing and regular review of financials.
- Ensure transparency in financial reporting to senior leadership.
- Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of managers and engineers.
- Set clear responsibilities, conduct regular performance reviews, and identify development opportunities.
- Maintain role clarity and accountability across the unit.
Required Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience- Proven experience in an Operational Directorship role.
- Background in Mechanical, Fire, and Smoke (F&S) services is essential.
- Experience in managing technical field teams and multi-disciplinary units.
Technical & Analytical- Proficient in job costing, budgeting, and data analysis.
- Detail-oriented with experience in risk assessments, PPE compliance, and workforce allocation.
- Able to translate complex data into actionable strategy and reporting.
Leadership & Communication- Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills.
- Strong communicator – clear, concise, and confident with stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised, with excellent decision-making and conflict-resolution abilities.
