Job Description

My client are Electrical Contractor who have been operating for over 13 years and turnover north of £8million a year.

With 11 direct employed staff, they are seeking an Electrical Manager / QS to join the team.
 

Electrical Manager and QS Position - Full Time - Permanent  

We are looking for an Electrical manager who will also take on the role as the QS by successfully completing a NICEIC Assessment and join our electrical division. 

The role will be to report to the Directors and will be responsible for managing the site supervisors, field engineers and sub-contractors on existing and new projects. You will also be responsible for all electrical aspects of the company.
 

As the Electrical Manager and QS, you will be responsible for:
 
  • Being the main point of contact between the Project Manager and the site supervisors and field engineers
  • The financial performance and reporting of all projects
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and control of works from the design stage, through to completion and the handover of the project to the client.
  • Day to day management of operations on site, ensuring that works are brought to a successful completion and meets the required time frame
  • Effectively programme and manage all works including any variations or delays and record and notify clients of such outcomes 
  • Liaise with the other management team members to ensure adequate labour and sub-contract resource is available on site
  • Plan and organise suitable labour to meet project requirements
  • Oversee all materials and deliveries to ensure they are done so in adequate time in line with the programme and project specification
  • Manage and motivate site staff including supervisors, field engineers and sub-contractor ensuring they are engaged and on target
  • Ensure workmanship and material standards are achieved in accordance with specifications, building regulations, health and safety legislation as well as our own company policy and procedures
  • Ensure site team and sub-contractors are following company policy and procedures
  • Attend and in some instances plan and deliver weekly review meetings with clients and our supervisors and engineers
  • Create and maintain good relations with clients, staff and subcontractors as well as any other stakeholders
  • Oversee all RAMS, toolbox talks and ensure that this information is recorded in the allocated folders
  • Oversee verification of inspection & test results whether electronically or paper copies in a timely manner to prevent commercial delays, ensuring that due care and attention is maintained to prevent any potential claims against the company.
  • Demonstrate good judgement, problem solving, and decision making, Build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues, be committed to delivering high quality results to customers and colleagues, plan your week/day to your best of your ability to ensure efficiency both for yourself and the contracts under your management
  • Overall management of all contracts from pre-start to completion and final O&M’s
  • Adhere to company policy and procedures Inc health & safety
  • Keep up to date with new regulations Inc BS7671, BS5839, BS5266
  • Being registered as the Qualifying Supervisor for the company’s electrical division and be available for annual assessments by the NICEIC as prescribed within the rules of enrolment
 
Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition
  • Inspection and Testing 2391/2 or equivalent
  • Experience of fault finding and Test and Inspecting
  • Experience in maintenance, social housing, domestic and commercial sectors including fire alarms and emergency lighting
 
Skills and Experience required:
  • Highly organised & self-motivated.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective management and prioritisation of workload
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Time served with a minimum of 7 years electrical experience
  • Minimum 3 years contract/project management experience or similar
  • Good commercial understanding
  • Strong H&S based knowledge
  • Driving license
  • Previous experience as the main NICEIC QS 
 

Package available:  

 
£60,000.00 - £65,000.00 per annum, depending on experience
