Senior Appeals Officer – SEND Service Location: Nottinghamshire
Working Pattern: Fully remote
Hours: 37 hours per week (5 days)
Contract Length: 3 months initially, with potential extension up to 6 months
Rate: £400–£500 per day (dependent on experience)
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced
Senior Appeals Officer to support a Local Authority SEND service. The postholder will manage complex appeal work and represent the Local Authority at mediation and SEND Tribunal (SENDIST) hearings.
Key Responsibilities- Manage SEND appeals and senior-level casework
- Represent the Local Authority at mediation and SEND Tribunal hearings
- Prepare cases thoroughly, including evidence gathering and documentation
- Provide expert input on complex SEND matters
- Work autonomously while contributing to wider SEND service objectives
Essential Experience- Significant experience working within a SEND team
- Proven experience of mediation and SEND Tribunal (SENDIST) hearings
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and appeals processes
- Experience handling complex and high-level SEND casework
