Are you passionate about education inclusion and making a real difference in young people’s lives?
Southwark Council is looking for a Senior Education Welfare Officer to join their Family Early Help Service — a pivotal role that directly supports children, young people, and their families in accessing and remaining in education.
🔍 Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure children of compulsory school age attend and engage in education.
- Partner with schools, families, and young people to prevent exclusion and improve attendance.
- Lead on enforcement actions such as legal planning meetings, Education Supervision Orders, and court proceedings under the Education Act (1996).
- Support multi-agency plans and Team Around the Family interventions.
- Work with stakeholders to track and re-engage Children Missing Education (CME).
- Strong knowledge of attendance legislation, family engagement, and education welfare.
- Proven experience supporting multi-agency collaboration.
- Confidence in conducting investigations and presenting cases in court.
- A commitment to early intervention, education inclusion, and safeguarding.
