Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience or training in mental health and a desire to make a real impact in education?
We are working with schools in South East London who are seeking
dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their supportive teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in mental health, youth work, or special educational needs who wants to help students reach their full potential.
The Role:- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Help pupils develop coping strategies, resilience and positive behaviours.
- Support classroom learning alongside the teacher.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement.
- Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
The Ideal Candidate:- Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or behaviour needs.
- Training or qualifications in mental health (e.g. Mental Health First Aid, counselling, psychology background).
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours positively.
