Job Description

My client are a privately owned Mechanical Contractor based in Surrey who have been operating for over 20 years.

As a business, they employ circa 35 staff across the board and specialise in Fast Track Commercial Office Fit out projects in London with Project values ranging from £500k – £11.5Mil.

JOB SUMMARY – GRADUATE MECHANICAL QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Monday – Friday – 09.00 – 17.30 / Office Based

We are seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Surrey.

You will be working on Commercial Office Fit Out Projects which generally fall between £2mil – £5mil.

Their training programme is extensive and you will be trained across all aspects of the business.
  • Spending time with the Estimating department, producing Tenders and carrying out take offs.
  • Followed by the on-site Projects team, where you will be exposed to live sites and gain understanding of the Mechanical Systems that the teams will be installing.
  • Then within the Quantity Surveying department where you be learning to carry out the below.
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for assisting in the measurement, costing and procurement of mechanical services for our construction projects.

You will work closely with our experienced Quantity Surveyors to ensure that all aspects of the mechanical services are properly accounted for and accurately estimated.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the measurement and quantification of mechanical services for construction projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of detailed bills of quantities for tendering purposes.
  • Assisting in the procurement of mechanical services, including the preparation of tender documentation and assessment of tenders.
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers to obtain quotes for mechanical services.
  • Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for mechanical services.
  • Assisting in the assessment and valuation of variations and claims for mechanical services.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly cost reports for mechanical services.
  • Ensuring that all mechanical services are accurately accounted for and properly documented.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (desirable)
  • Good understanding of mechanical services and their installation within construction projects.
  • Some experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
SALARY & PACKAGE
  • £20,000 - £25,000
  • 20 Days Holiday & 8 Bank Holidays (increases to 25 Days after 2 years service)
