About the Role:- Location: Islington

- Role: Lead Resource Teacher of the Deaf (Mainstream Primary with Deaf Provision)
- Salary: £200.00 - £280.00 per day plus SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
The ideal candidate will have:- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and mandatory qualifications as a Teacher of the Deaf (ToD).
- Proven experience in teaching deaf students in a mainstream or specialist setting, with leadership or coordination experience (desirable).
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) or experience working with signing systems (desirable).
- A strong understanding of the needs of deaf learners, including the use of assistive technologies such as hearing aids and radio aids.
- Excellent leadership and organisational skills to oversee the school’s deaf provision and guide staff.
- The ability to support students’ academic, language, and social development while fostering inclusion within the mainstream curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:- Take the lead in managing the school’s deaf provision, ensuring outstanding support for students with hearing impairments.
- Teach and provide specialised support to deaf students, enabling them to access the mainstream curriculum.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with the SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals.
- Provide training and guidance to mainstream staff to ensure effective communication strategies and inclusive practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of deaf students, maintaining high expectations for achievement and well-being.
- Lead on the use of assistive technologies and ensure their effective implementation.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to drive the continuous improvement of the school’s deaf provision.
