APRIL 15TH START - Secondary School Graduate TA

Graduate TAs in West London, we need you!
 
Pertemps Education are seeking Graduate TAs to work across schools in West London on both a Daily Supply & Long-term basis. We partner with a variety of local secondary schools, helping to cover the absence of staff.
 
Our schools ensure that the cover staff we provide are treated the same as any member of their own permanent team. You are supported in your work by the Cover Manager & SLT, helping you to only grow in confidence & ability, but to deliver a high standard of work to the pupils in your care.
As a Cover Supervisor you will:

• Ensure that the classroom environment is safe, productive, tidy & harmonious in the absence of the class teacher
• Keep the pupil in the class motivated to stay on task and undertake the set tasks laid out by the class teachers lesson plans
• Ensure that pupils have the tools needed to complete their work
• Manage behaviour in line with the schools policies and procedures
• Leave clear communication for the class teacher to read upon their return
• Ensure that the classroom is left tidy at the end of the lessons/day

What To Expect As A Graduate TA:
 
At the start of a typical day as a Graduate TA you will be expected to arrive early to meet the Cover Manager. Here they will check your ID and DBS, as well as induct you through H&S and Behaviour Policies. They will give you your plan and timetable for the day as well as take you to the department of your first lesson and introduce you.
 
As a Cover Supervisor you may not be able to teach in your specialist subject and potentially the subjects you are covering will change throughout the day. It is important to try and familiarise yourself with the seating plan and cover work for the day as well as the behaviour policies in order to be consistent.
 
A successful candidate must have the following qualities:

• Good understanding and working knowledge of the secondary school typical day
• Have good behaviour management from experience of coaching, teaching & tutoring
• Be able to deliver effect cover plans to ensure that every students is engaged
• Be conscious of school policies and behaviour policies
• Flexible attitudes- happy to be called at 7am to cover short notice
