Pertemps Social Care are supporting London Borough of Harrow Council by recruiting Adult Social Care Social Workers to work within adults community social work.
Role Purpose- To provide a high quality and effective social work service, which responds to the needs of people with lived experiences with care and support needs, their informal carers and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines. All assessments and support plans will be completed in accordance with the wellbeing principles of the Care Act 2014 and reflects a strengths-based approach.
- Guidance, support, and supervision will be provided in accordance with the individual’s experience and capabilities and in line with our Supervision Policy.
Role SummaryHarrow’s Adult Social Care Social Worker role provides an opportunity for newly qualified social workers to undertake their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) within our adult service, which is committed to providing high-quality support, assessment and intervention with the residents, carers, and families we work with. Newly qualified social workers will enter the workforce at Grade 9, undertake their work with support, close supervision and guidance, and will have a reduced caseload. Upon successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme, Social Workers will progress through the Grade 9 pay scale and will work with an increased caseload following the completion of the ASYE Programme
Job Context (Key outputs of team/role)1. Demonstrable ability work with people with lived experiences, recognising the council’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policy.
2. Completion of strengths-based Care Act and Mental Capacity assessments in a timely manner.
3. Ability to prioritise work under pressure, adapt their priorities to changes in demand and deliver to agreed deadlines.
4. Completion of person-centred support plans that reflect the expressed wishes of people with lived experiences, and/or their advocates.
5. Contribute to the prevention of risk of harm to maximise the safety and wellbeing of people with lived experiences.
Main Duties: Career Grade (G9)1. Undertake strengths-based Care Act assessments for people with lived experiences and informal carers, their care and support needs.
2. Enable people with lived experiences to manage risks and support them to enhance their independence to prevent harm.
3. Adopt a person-centred approach to working in partnership with people with lived experiences and carers using a person-centred approach, with the aim of maximising independence, wellbeing, and choice.
4. Applying social work principles and values to guide professional practice and respect Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
5. To acquire a working knowledge of the London Multi-Agency Adult Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, internal safeguarding procedures, Making Safeguarding Personal and all related legislation concerning Adult Social Care.
6. To receive guidance, support and supervision to develop skills in relation to Section 42(1) and S42 (2) enquiries under the supervision of the Safeguarding Adults Manager.
7. To receive guidance, support, and supervision to carry out assessments for people with lived experiences in relation to preventing the risk of harm and to address difficulties around hoarding.
8. To assume accountability for maintaining continuous professional development in accordance with the expectations of Social Work England.
9. To adhere to the requirements of the Assessed Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
10. Programme leading to successful completion.
11. Participate in the Duty system of the team under the supervision of the Duty Manager.
12. To present cases to the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Panel to facilitate the implementation of care and support plans.
13. To participate in supervision sessions and carry out actions recommended by the line manager in a timely manner.
Main duties: The duties for the G10 social workers are similar to those above and the additional ones mentioned below:1. To present complex information and chair meetings relating to individuals held on caseload.
2. Manage complex and high-risk cases.
3. To present cases to the Risk Enablement Panel and execute recommended actions.
4. To act as a Safeguarding Enquiry Officer in the progression of section 42(2) safeguarding investigations.

Knowledge, Skills, and ExperienceRole requirements (Essential and Desirable)
- Must hold a qualification in social work - Essential
- Good demonstrable understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. - Essential
- Have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) - Essential
- Knowledge of social work models and interventions including strengths based practice models - Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of discriminated groups and the ability to ensure that services are appropriately delivered to meet their needs - Desirable
The G10 Social Worker is expected to fulfil the criteria above and the one below.
- Good demonstrable understanding of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards - Essential
QualificationsRole Requirements- Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience -
