The Role:
As an English Teacher (ECT), you will play a pivotal role in inspiring a love for literature and language among the school’s students. You will deliver engaging and challenging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of learners, fostering their critical thinking skills, creativity, and confidence in written and verbal communication. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to the development of innovative teaching practices and participate in the wider school community.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that align with the national curriculum and school objectives.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs and abilities of students, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all learners.
  • Assess student progress effectively through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning, fostering mutual respect and a love for learning.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the English department and the school as a whole.
 
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or pending completion of PGCE or equivalent qualification in English.
  • A passion for English literature and language, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development, with a growth mindset and willingness to learn and adapt.
