Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a skilled Senior Building Control Surveyor to join the Regeneration & Economic Development team in Newport for a 24-week temporary assignment.
About the Role:
As a Senior Building Control Surveyor, you will deliver critical building control functions, ensuring compliance with health, safety, sustainability, energy conservation, accessibility, and design standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting technical assessments of full plan applications, Building Notices, and certificates to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
- Inspecting construction sites and maintaining accurate records of inspections and completions.
- Assessing and addressing dangerous structures, issuing notices, and implementing remedial works.
- Advising contractors, architects, and the public on technical and regulatory matters, including fire engineering solutions.
- Handling public complaints and supporting enforcement actions, including court appearances as a specialist witness.
- Promoting Building Control services and mentoring less experienced staff.
- Participating in an out-of-hours rota for dangerous structure reports.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a professional with:
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- A Criminal Convictions Declaration.
- A CV and 2 years of references/work history.
- A signed Confidentiality Agreement (required upon offer acceptance).
- HND/HNC in a construction-related subject (Degree desirable).
- Minimum Band A validation (working towards Band B registration desirable).
- Working towards professional membership of RICS or CABE (full membership desirable).
- Practical knowledge of Building Control legislation and statutory obligations.
- Experience in Building Control or a related construction discipline.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility for site visits and out-of-hours work.
