Driver/Operative – Street Cleansing (One-Off Project)
Location: Telford Street, Newport, NP19 0ES
Contract: 27th May 2025 – 23rd June 2025 (4 Weeks)
Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday–Thursday 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Friday 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay: £12.59/hour (PAYE) or £15.99/hour (Limited/Umbrella) + agency support benefits

What You’ll Do:

• Drive council vehicles and carry out street cleansing duties under the supervision of the Manager (Refuse & Cleansing) and Supervisors.
• Complete daily cleansing tasks as per the contract specification, following route schedules and ensuring high standards.
• Supervise Cleansing Operatives when working together, ensuring efficient teamwork and quality outcomes.
• Comply with health and safety regulations, wearing the provided uniform and protective clothing, and report any incidents or faults.
• Engage with supervisors, client officers, and the public, demonstrating excellent customer care skills while working outdoors in all weather conditions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Skills: Ability to work to targets and deadlines, with good customer care skills and the capacity to prioritise tasks independently.
• Qualities: Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a strong team player, with a commitment to improving your own performance.
• Experience: Knowledge of the Newport area and understanding of public sector demands; experience in refuse/cleansing services (desirable).
• Requirements: Full, current UK driving licence; physically fit for walking, bending, lifting, and carrying; ability to work rostered shifts, including weekends and bank holidays; eligibility to work in the UK.
• Bonus Points: Supervisory experience; Welsh language skills (or willingness to learn basic greetings).
