We currently have a variety of part-time, flexible hour rotas available that complement the full time locum and permanent roles that we are currently recruiting for in the Ashford area.

Job Role Requirements 
  • Clinical Practice
•       Medicines Management

•       Write, plan, organise, implement, and monitor In-Possession Medication policy for prisoners

•       Contribute to the planning, organising, implementing, and monitoring of the electronic    prescribing and medicines administration policy

•       Contribute to the planning, organising, implementing, and monitoring of the SOPs for healthcare staff.

•       Write, review and update, when necessary, the Pharmacy's internal SOPs

•       Ensure that the Pharmacy practices are following national, local and Trust wide priorities and reflect the 30 recommendations as outlined in “A Pharmacy Service for Prisoners”

•       Co-ordinate the management of the meeting dates, agenda, and work plan of the Medicines Management Group for HMP /YOI Bronzefield. Provide annual reports concerning the work of the group as dictated by the Head of Healthcare.

•       Produce ADIOS (system for monitoring Controlled Drugs/Unused drugs) reports for the CNWL Accountable officer for controlled drugs.

•       Contribute and take the lead in medicines management initiatives working closely with Primary Care, Substance Misuse, Mental Health service leads and the GP teams

•       Provide expertise and recommendations on the use of medicines at HMP /YOI Bronzefield using an evidence-based approach for all new medicines, formulations, and all medicines with newly licensed indications.

•       Manage and complete the Mandatory Drug Testing forms when required by Security

•       Provide advice to clinicians on unlicensed medicines use and areas of practice where the evidence base is lacking under the direction/supervision of the Lead Pharmacist.

•       Work across traditional boundaries as part of a fully integrated multidisciplinary team.

•       Manage and make appropriate referrals to other members of the multidisciplinary team and within the pharmacy department.

•       Be able to critically appraise the literature and give accurate interpretation in order improve use of medicines.

•       Reduce risk associated with medicines use by contributing to the safe medication practice agenda.  This will include identification and reporting of medicines related incidents.

•       Develop and demonstrate expert clinical knowledge in appropriate areas including physical healthcare.

•       Demonstrate innovation and extend the boundaries of the profession and able to motivate and inspire others.

•       The post holder will continually update their skills and knowledge as part of continuing professional development.

•       Be familiar with the use of breakaway techniques.
