The ECT
As an English ECT, you will have at least a bachelor’s degree in English Language, Literature, or a related subject and will have a passion for the English field. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the English language and the confidence to share this with students aged 11-16. It is essential that you have completed a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by September 2024 and have a dedication to the education and wellbeing of high school students as they progress towards their GCSE examinations.
 
The Role
In your role as an English ECT, you will be responsible for planning and delivering interesting and engaging lessons that adhere to the GCSE English national curriculum. You will be working alongside a brand new headteacher to raise attainment levels of under-achieving students in the school. To do this, you will be monitoring and tracking the progress of each student in your classes to identify any additional learning needs that can be accommodated by adapted learning materials. You will provide constructive feedback to both pupils and parents and create strong bonds with both students and staff.
